Pigeons out the front of Royal Palace Have been a bit slack with the entries. I find the internet here like dial up and it does my head in. We had a great 5 days in Phnom Penh but didn't get in as much shopping as I would have liked. I think this will be a recurring theme throughout the trip.Basically I am out numbered and will always lose anything that goes to the vote about shopping. Tane is a bloke in that he like most guys hates shopping and Ella is is a typical 4 yr old and if it ain't about her, it ain't happening. ( or not for long).
We did a great sunset cruise on the Tonle Sap and the Mekong on our own boat with a really nice guy called Pho who owned 2 boats with his brother. It was nice and cool out on the water and a great place to have our Sun-downers. Just for 1 1/2 hours but saw some floating fishing villages and the kids had a ball spotting floating poo's.
Also did a nice tour of the Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda. Was very beautiful and was the King's Birthday the next day so we had a

Royal Palace great show of evening fire works over the river. Was a nice change of pace and kids and Lyndon joined in some of the aerobics class on the promenade. I have pictures! The locals are incredibly friendly here. I am not sure if this is the way everyone finds Cambodia or we are getting special treatment because of the kids. I said to Lyndon that this is how the Thai's were before mass tourism. It is really incredible that these people always seem to be smiling given the very hard lives that most of them live. I wouldn't hesitate recommending Cambodia as a tourist destination to anyone, but, would say it is best in the cool dry seasons. ( Nov to Feb). The heat has impacted our ability to get out and around but still we are talking of coming back to this wonderful country.
We have made a point of visiting some great businesses here that are set up by NGO. We have had wonderful meals at Friends which is a training restaurant for street kids and I also had the wonderful experience of being the first paying customer at the new Spa run by Daughters. This organisation offers

Golden roofs at the Royal Palace skill training to those that have been working in sex industries and is a wonderful initiative.
Tane has had a tummy bug but luckily was just the one night and was quite well the next day. Thank god for electrolyte drinks. I am little surprised this hasn't happened earlier given the fact that the kid's can't walk anywhere without dragging the hands along everything.
We decided on our last day in PP we would head out to a little French resort that I had read about called L'Imprevue. It is about 1/2 hour out of Phnom Penh and has a great pool. Was a wonderful relaxing day and the kids had a chance to let off some steam with other kids.
We are off to Kampot in the South by bus on the 15th. A picture of this little town took my eye in a travel book a couple of years ago and since then it has taken off a bit. Quite a few expats have businesses down there and we are looking forward to being in a place where there is less traffic and the kids can have greater freedom.
