Me on my Motorbike
Me driving with Paul on his motorbike Ok so i really dont want to leave Phnom Phen-its official! We have loved our time here and im so sad to know that its almost time to leave. We have made some fantastic friends here, the locals are amazing people, very friendly, helpful, kind and just superb! I actually 'married' one the other night, cool cute wee barman called Coy haha! just a shame my ring is a wee cheap silver one haha! The markets are great, can pick up some serious bargains, only wish i had a empty suitcase with me to fill it with the amazing artwork, clothes, everything! The food is great too, a little too good actually, we have tried some traditional khmer dishes and some not too traditional unless cheeseburger and chips is now a Cambodian dish lol! The only thing that still creeps now out is the fact they eat cooked cockroaches and spiders but as long as i dont need to its cool lol! The killing fields and museam was fantastic too, well worth a trip! At night we have been chilling out at the superb little pub called The Drunken Frog, with the great barmen, locals and fellow backpackers and if
Me and my Hubby
Me with my hubby Coy! feeling we want a little boogie heading to The Heart of Darkness for some dancing and drinking! I have never been to a place like this before, i mean i have even rode a motorbike here-awesome! Loving it loving it loving it!
I have decided just to add on to this about my last couple of days in Phnom Phen. The last couple of days were really nice, one of the morning i actually felt quite hungover so it was a case of goin to The Flying Elephant for a burger and chips-what a curer-ace!!! One of the days was filled by chilling out, going to see our 2 favourite Cambodians, and also stopping by the drunken frog to talk to our mates, not much change as we do this almosty everyday but still was nice. The last day we decided to attempt to leave our street again and we done pretty well. We got to the bank to try get some more money which we suceeded in doing and also the post offie to post some postcards home, we then went to the market to pick up a bag of rice which we would then deliver to a Orphanage.
Our 2 money exchange mates! :)
Me with our 2 money exchange mates who unfortunately i can remember names wah!! We then got the tuk tuk driver to take us to one, he replied no problem, this however was wrong, he took us to a resturant, we then told him no this was the wrong place. After a lengthy discussion which progressed into a small arguement me and Laura stormed off, the driver was not going to take us to the correct place unless we paid him more which i refused to do as it was his fault he had taken us to wrong place, he then decided to pretend he did not know English and could not understanjd us so off we went, as i needed to cool down (the Bateman temper was coming through) So we headed off for, by chance or fate we walked past a shop which stated 'All proceeds go to our Orphanage' so we went inside to discover the owner also ran a Orphanage and offered to take us there-bobs ur uncle! So after waiting for her to finish up shop we headed off by car (which felt strange as not been in one since day i left home, i wanted to grab the wheel as really missin driving) on the 30minute journey to
Mr and Mrs Coy
Me and my hubby again! the Orphanage. When we arrived we at once could tell that this was a 'better off' one, it was quite different to what i was expecting. The plae for one was very big, had different buildings and quite clean. We were toured around by one of the English teachers , very nice young Cambodian, we were shown the teaching rooms, the gardens, the dorms where the kids slept and the handicrafts rooms, all was very nice! We got to meet some of the kids too, really nice, age ranged from 5-18, most at school but we noticed the ones we did meet were quite shy, very different from the kids we met on the street. We spent all in about a hour there and then left with 2 of the Orphanages drivers and headed back to town by moto. The Orphanage was very nice but as i said previously it was definately one of the better off ones, was realy nice to visit though.
Our last night was really good, we went out for dinner then headed to our favourite place, thats right you have guessed it-The Drunken frog for some drinks, we had a really nice night in there,
Me and Paul
Me and Paul on last night-oh so sad!!! met some new people too-some Australians who we then later on went to The Heart of Darkness with, and Paul and Bry too. The Heart was really good, had good laugh as Bry was very drunken and great laugh, jumping and dancing about like a looney and having fun! We then left and headed back to the Frog for another few drinks and to say the dreaded bye to them. It was a sad farewell as i felt really close to them all, Alex gave us a Drunken Frog shot each, which went own very well might i add! We said bye to Paul, Bry, Martin, Alex, a few others and of course my husbacd Coy. It was a sad time but we got all their emails and promised to stay in touch, i also promised i would be back, lets just hope i will be!!!
We then went to our hostel to pick up our bags, and of course have our last Cambodian egg sandwich which was amazing!! We also took some pics, played with the wee beautiful toddler who lived there then headed off for our bus. We said bye to our mates at the money exchange place
Me and barman Martin
Me and Martin or as i call him-Marty! too, 2 brilliant guys who are super nice, we talked to them every day and were great laugh, maybe cause they called us 'our best customers' haha! We then headed for bus to Vietnam, just hope its half as good as Phnom Phen!
