Entrance to Angkor Thom
For all who are hoping for a lot of quick wit and general amusement will be fairly disappointed with this entry. The journey to Cambodia was to get off the rock and go on a little jaunt with Joe, and to try to keep my head out of the water, as you’ll see I did a damn poor job of that. It was quite the rush to get everything done in the time I gave myself, but boy was it worth it.
Angkor, even the tourist trap that it is, is bloody amazing, the scale of it is breathtaking. Most of the pictures don’t have too many travelers in them because I tried really hard to get it like that, this is a very false perception, people are everywhere. I just didn’t want to remember it like that. For the most part, everything that I took a picture of was just the tip of the iceberg, to take everything in is impossible. A lot of times you take pictures and it looks slightly more interesting than it really was, not here, I am sure that this is the same effect that the Pyramids have. The area surrounding Siem Reap

is the largest religious monument complex in the world.
I’m just going to let the pictures take you through the trip, I really wasn’t there long enough to develop an interesting story. The one thing that I can say is I now know how the people deserted the area, they all fell down the crazy stairs they built and died. How they could build such beautiful monuments and then decide that the best way to build a ladder was to disguise it as a set of stairs. All of the pictures are in order so you can go through the same way I did.

Inside each hole used to be a diamond that reflected the light and lit the room, obviously they had a better handle on shoplifting than we currently do.

As long as the tree is alive they let it continue in any direction, only when it is dead and a danger to the public do they cull it.

These reliefs go on for 100m and never repeat images, they tell a story from one end to the other. There are 4 sets of diferent stories. It's not exactly a bed time story either.
