Itinerary

Quick Tips
* Do not miss the breath-taking Takstang Monastery in the Paro valley. You will get special permits from Thimpu.

* Experience the quaint atmosphere, happy people, unique blend of traditional culture and modernity, the monks in their Toyota Prados, men chewing their domas, signs like 'grocery and bar', live music bars of Paro and ofcourse Druk 11000 beer.

* Indian citizens require permits to visit Bhutan which can be easily be obtained for free at the border town Phuntsholing. Bring your passport or Voter ID card. No other documents are entertained. Special permits should be obtained for Punakha, Thangu-Cherry and Takstang monasteries which are issued from Thimpu.

* Indian currency (on par with Bhutan currency) accepted all over Bhutan except for 500 and 1000 rupee notes. Even the banks dont accept them and no-one has heard about money changers. Almost everyone speaks hindi.

* Keep a day reserve if you are taking the train from Siliguri for your return journey. The 180 km road through mountains from Paro/Thimpu to Phuntsholing is under construction and can throw some unexpected delays upto 4-5 hours.
