Aurora's Anchor

This is the anchor that the Aurora left behind at Cape Evans after a gale pushed the ship out into the pack ice and the open ocean stranding several people on Ross Island.

This is a view across the sea ice with some blowing snow. Visibility can quickly disappear when you are out on the sea ice so flagged routes are essential.

This is another view across the sea ice with some blowing snow. The flags can be seen in the distance. Some of the fish huts are off of flagged routes, so we had to skip going to those if windy conditions existed.

Wow!
What a great finale! As usual, very nice pics. I love the one you took of the bottom of the ocean. Just like Kate said, I feel like I was on the journey with you. I couldn't find the Heinz catsup bottle though:(....I must be blind! Best of luck to you and hope you can adjust to the warmer climate. Sincerely, Wendy from Detroit
