Up at 4:00 am and away at 4:45 on the usual bumpy roads for an hour and a quarter. Despite some lingering apprehension, I was committed to the hot air balloon ride. Boy, that 4AM start would hurt! Good for you for going for it. At our age, it's too easy to be prudent and/or unadventurous. I didn't know the meaning of Serengeti, and it sure looks endless in your photos. I would have missed your shadow if you hadn't pointed it out. I particularly like the photo of the hippo pond. So blue against the countryside.

After a while, the clock became irrelevant. The rewards were great indeed! The views from the air were breathtaking, and I will do it again if I get the chance.

UP, UP AND AWAY!
I am so glad that you chose to partake in the hot air balloon ride. I have not travelled as extensively as you have (although I have done my share over the years) but I have been blessed with the opportunity to go up in a hot air balloon (none holding as many passengers as yours) multiple times. It is one of my favourite modes of travel (probably tied with helicopters for #1). The farthest away that I experienced this mode of travel was in Australia - another opportunity to view unique animals (such as kangaroos) below us.
