Teacher's Workshop
Julia helping the ladies Hello everyone,
One of the main events of the past week was the first Teacher's Workshop for the ladies of the congregation in Moshi. This was the first time they experienced a program of this kind. Judy Hall, who has been visiting from the States, gave a lesson concerning the accountability that teachers have for what they teach. I gave a lesson on the purpose of Bible class. After our lessons, Julie Richardson divided the ladies into four groups. Each group was given a segment of Scripture, and the ladies were given the assignment to made a visual aid to illustrate the Scripture. This was a completely new concept to these ladies. They were a little apprehensive at first, but after a little help, they started getting the idea. One of the assignments was related to Zaccheus, and Julie showed them that they could cut a tree trunk from brown paper, the tree top from green paper, and then glue the top to the trunk. There was a bottle of glue on the table, and a short time later, one of the ladies picked up the bottle of glue and asked "What is the purpose of this?" We are
Teacher's Workshop
Lindsey helping the ladies truly beginning at ground level! The ladies are excited about learning, and are looking forward to our next class. We will not meet in June, due to campaign work, but beginning in July, we will meet once a month. These classes will also provide is a good way to spend time with just the ladies, and to get to know them better.
George has had a couple more classes with the Pentecostal preacher. Sadly, it seems that the man's interest is tied to his desire to receive money. That is a sad, but not so uncommon reality in a third world country. George will meet with him again, if the man is willing, and hopefully the truth will work on his heart. Near the location of the Bible study there is a beautiful waterfall. Several of the other missionaries, who also had a Bible study in the area, met George and the boys there, and showed them the scenery.
It seems that there is an abundant population of hedge hogs here. The Richardsons found a baby one last week, and gave it to Lindsey. What we will do with it when it gets bigger, I have no idea,
but for now, Lindsey is taking care of it. It is a cute little thing, and has tamed very quickly. It cries for her at night, and as soon as she picks it up, it stops crying. Hedge hogs are nocturnal, so Lindsey has had some interesting nights.
Jacob had an interesting story to tell this past week. One morning, as he began to bathe, he felt something on his leg, and much to his surprise, wrapped on his leg was a centipede, about 6" long, and 1" wide. To say that Jacob was startled would be an understatement! We wandered what all the excitement was in the bathroom. The centipede apparently had been hiding on the shower hose. Jacob managed to sling it out the window.
According to the latest information that we've been able to gather, our container is due to arrive in Mombasa, Kenya, the end of this week. We are hoping to see it here in Moshi a couple weeks after that. We are truly looking forward to seeing our things again, and are anxious to get some furniture in our house. The Richardsons have been so good to loan us what we need

Some of you have asked about sending over care packages, and the particulars about that. We do have to pay customs on packages we receive. If you wish to send a package from time to time, it is best that the package be about the size of a shoebox. We appreciate very much your thoughtfulness.
One of the things we miss the most right now is fresh milk. We can buy long-life boxed milk, but it hardly compares. Yesterday we just happened to learn that a lady nearby our house sells milk. She has about six cows. Before leaving the States we bought a small pasteurizer, which is on our container. So, hopefully, we'll be having some fresh milk before too long. We are able to buy ice cream, so we've been eating a fair amount of that to have some dairy intake.
Cy and Stephanie will be flying back to Tanzania later this week, after a short visit to the States. Please keep their travels in your prayers. Again, please accept our humble thanks for your interest in our work, and for the many prayers offered on
