so today marks my three weeks in this country , which sux cuz it doesnt feel like 3 weeks at all and time is running and i dont wana come home boo haha ........... lets see working with kids down here is very challenging . either teaching , medically, or jus social all are hard enough with the language barriers and also the way they have been raised. the kids here do not use words or anything , its either a fit of tears or hiting and the older ones are always beating on the younger , so planting a system is hell . also the teaching here is miserable like they teach by memorizing they have no idea what is going on and teaching math is like talking to the wall or at least the kids i have to deal with. there is not even a mintue of doing nothing , my day is running around and it sucks but its pretty cool at the same time . Its really hard so far to get it thru my head that when i leave they dont go home they have no parents , thats the hardest thing for me to accept i think so far . they all just want love and its really sad and hard since there are one 2 other women present with me with 50 kids to love , so its like attention with all at once . the kids dont listen so u have to hit them and i cant hit them , so i put them in their room or lock them up in the crib just for few mintues so they know what they did is wrong , but no use they come out laughing and saying oh again, so haha nothing works almost lol am almost hopeless. but i started a positive , negative reinforcment idea with them and seeing how its going to work with them , hopefully not as bad as i think it might haha....... other then the amazing kids i work with , the weekends are usually days that we go out of town as a group and do tourist stuff , last weekend or the weekend that just passed we went down to volcano langani the coldest volcano in the world its supposte to be like 200 km away but it took us about 7 hours to get there and we had a flat tire , it was hot, no roads and humid so i really felt like am in africa finally haha and we saw zebras, monkeys and camels it was cool . also went down to many water falls which were amazingly beautiful . lastly we also checked out lake natron which is the most acidic lake in the world and had flimingos breeding there since no other birds come down for competition. it was pretty cool actually haha , i wish i cud take u guys there .................... thursday we r starting our 4 day safari , which includes the crater ngorongoro, serengeti and tarangire , which are places that have everything from elephant migrations to lions, so am very excited , yeeey . other then that um its getting hoter slowly and lol there r no roads or anything here , so walking everyday to work is hell , i cannot look up cuz am thinking oh am gona fall and i jus look down , which sux haha also i havent left one part of me uninjured , and oh ya i have many scars at the moment, including a glass scar haha ................ thats it for now i guess , next will be safari ........... lots of love from tanzania :D
