On our way from Satara to Letaba we decided we needed to take the scenic route to Letaba by way of Oliphants restcamp. They do not allow camping but it is a beautiful place to hang out and drink in the view.

We stopped at the overlook before we got to the camp and as usual the scene was quite dramatic. There were elephants and hippos playing in the river and one of the hipppos was doing the big mouth yawn for us. On previous trips, there have been vervet monkeys in evidence but they were not here this time.

Got to Oliphants and decided to enjoy a brunch outside on the deck. The barbet was really showing off for us and we got some nice shots as we enjoyed our breakfast. After breakfast we walked down to the overlook and checked out the scenery. We were quite amazed to not see any elephants down in the river since we usually see several when we have been here in the past.

Did some shopping in the store and bought some presents for people and then headed on to Letaba.
