The view of the hills near our lodge.
Geo: -28.21, 32.0059

This morning we left early at 6am for our game drive. Soon we spotted a rhino in the distance. Further along the road there was a small herd of dagga boys. The old male buffaloes were mainly resting, just one of them was eating. On the other side of the road we saw the rear end of a white rhino as it was walking into the bush.

We then arrived at the river and parked on the bridge to observe. Initially there wasn't anything to see except for a few Hadeda Ibis. Then in the distance in the dry river we noticed movement. There were lion cubs running around and a couple of sub-adults. It was exciting to see them, just a shame that they were so far away. Then when we looked out the other side of the car, we saw that a rhino had appeared. We watched the male white rhino as it slowly walked across the dry river.

Paul continued driving towards Mpila. On the way up the hill we saw a pair of vultures standing in their nests at the top of a tree, a pair of young female kudus, a crash of four white

rhinos and further along there was another white rhino. At Mpila we turned around and drove back towards our lodge. Along the way we didn't see much.

We had now arrived back at our lodge. Here we quickly ate breakfast and packed the car. Then headed out of the game reserve. Just before leaving the reserve we saw some more vultures standing in their nests.

It was about 10am when we drove out of Umfolozi. I had really enjoyed our time here and the great sightings we have had. We were driving south as we were staying in the Drakensberg for the next few nights.
