It was really hard getting up early to start work at 7 this morning after having the last week off relaxing with friends. When I got to the lodge I realised that I didn't have to be there until 8 because there were no guests in camp last night – how annoying. As I was about to waste time on the internet, the maintenance man told me that the wild dogs had made a kill at Room 2. As I walked closer to that room I could hear their distinctive sound- a very high pitched one.

This pack was a large one, 11 puppies and about 17 adults. There was less than half of the bushbuck left. I quickly went to my room to get my camera and let Paul know.

He was interested in the kill and we sat on the deck of Room 2 for about half an hour and watched them devour the remains. They didn't leave a thing. They even fought over the fur! The dead bushbuck didn't smell. It was a male bushbuck- part of the herd that wander in and out of the camp. When there was nothing left the dogs walked off, probably

to go and sleep. This happens quite often that the wild dogs use the fence to corner their prey. I then went to work and counted down the days until my next leave, only 8 days.....
