The view of the mountains as we walked towards the caves.

This morning we woke up after a very comfortable night's sleep. We are surrounded by magnificent scenery here. The temperature is much cooler than Kruger and Sodwana Bay. After breakfast we went for a walk to reception and booked into a cave tour for 11am.

Just before 10am we set off for our hike. It would take us about forty five minutes to reach the cave where we were meeting the cave guide. The walk to the cave was very scenic and not strenuous at all. We were surrounded by luscious green mountains, covered in green grass and a few small trees. In the distance we could see the huge cliffs that give this area its name. In this park there are a few animal species to be seen, we haven't seen any yet.

We followed the signs for the cave and on the way back we would be walking back via the Bushman's River. The views from this path were breathtaking and very picturesque. Along the way we stopped to admire the flowers and various plant species. Luckily today's weather was perfect, clear sky and not too hot. We were really enjoying our walk, it was good to

be active after a very lazy three weeks of game driving and sitting on the beach.

We arrived at the Main Caves just before 11 and waited for our guide. In the caves we were going to see rock paintings that were done by the hunter-gatherer San or bushmen. It was also a nice view up here of the surrounding area and in the distance we could see our chalet.

The paintings depicted their lives and were of people and animals that they hunted. The guided tour lasted about twenty minutes and then we walked back to our chalet via the river.

We took a slow walk back and continued to admire the scenery. We did dip our feet into the river and the water was freezing! It was just before 1pm that we arrived back at the chalet. When we got back we were ready for lunch. It was so nice to cook in a kitchen again instead of on a camp fire.

After our lunch we went for a walk around the chalets looking at the birds. The rest of the afternoon was spent chilling in the chalet by the fire place. Later on in the afternoon we

noticed a few a couple of furry visitors to our chalet. It was a pair of Dassies. They are cute, furry and with very short legs. The Dassies were eating the grass and other vegetation. We spent the evening keeping warm by the fire place.
