After a slow morning and another great Dan breakfast of shrimp/onion omelets, we headed out to find a pub for lunch. The first little village shut us out on lunch spots requiring reservations or being closed. So off to Betty’s Bay where we found Camelot, a building shaped like, you guessed it, a castle. We enjoyed a lunch of great variety (from pizza to schnitzel to seafood potjie) and Castle beers, watching the weather change from beautiful and sunny to raining no less than 4 times over the course of the meal. Then we went off to see the penguins (known as Jackass penguins - don't ask me why). What a treat! There are tons of them out on the rocks, hanging out, swimming, mating, eating. There were also dassies a-plenty. A fun little stop. Tomorrow: the shark trip!
Oh yes, and it isn’t my story to tell, but Adam had our first real encounter with a male baboon this early morning! He was hanging out on the porch early, and the guy (described as “Amanda-sized”!) came up and tried the door, the windows, bared his teeth for Adam. Dan managed to get a couple of quick shots before he ran

of the Jackass variety :) off! And we saw some more baboons on our way out of the village, up on a neighbor’s roof. This time, I got a couple photos!
This evening we invited Jerry and Margaret over for drinks and snacks. What fun they are - they help Pat with the house while she’s gone and are the ones who picked us up from the airport the other night. Margaret played piano for us, including an original composition - so beautiful! They are hilarious with opinions on conspiracy theories, marriage, rings, golf, etc. Dave totally chatted it up with Jerry and quite enjoyed himself. I think he took on a bit of an accent - sounds like a combo British, Welsh, Afrikaans. It is sorta cracking me up. A lot more enunciation than usual.
Oh, and I was a bit enthusiastic with the penguin photos - hope you enjoy!
