Looking up...Looking up...Looking up...

Back to school today...hoorah! And we actually mean that. We enjoyed seeing the children again and were overwhelmed by their continued positivity towards us. So this tied us up until lunchtime when we got back and tried to plan our afternoon's adventures.

We started by driving to the chemist to check that the welts on Hannah's arms are not anything to worry about. It turns out that all they are are an extreme reaction mosquitoe bites and not somethng poisonous that might cause serious damage (i.e. a Hannah-eating Spider, which was the first thought)!!!

So after that adventure and a bag full of antihistamine products we headed back to Chill and Surf to collect our mad American friend for a trip to Table Mountain. We had been accosted late last night by him when he invited himself along on a short road trip!!! As it turned out he was like totally awesome man, and if it hadn't been for him we may have chickened out of the trip due to the gnarly cloud!!!

We took the scenic route over Chapman's Peak (which is fast becoming our favourite route) and ended up on the top of Signal Hill
That darn crazy yank!!!That darn crazy yank!!!That darn crazy yank!!!

See we told you he was mad.
looking down over the city of Cape Town on the right and looking up at the Lion's Head peak on our left. It was amazing!!! From there we headed back down and then up again towards the cable car route up Table Mountain.

After a bit of dilly dallying (according to our crazy American friend) we decided to chance the trip in spite of the cloud and go up in the cable car, which had a rotating floor. The views were spectacular and our snapshots do not do it justice, however, it was a sight to behold.

We went in search of Dassies (small mountain creatures that look a bit like gerbils and are closely related to elephants...yes we did say elephants!!!) but were unsuccessful, settling for coffee, cake and spectaclar views. At dusk we reluctantly made our way back down the mountain side in the cable car (again with a rotating floor) and wandered back to our car.

The drive back was punctuated with stops to watch the sunset and admire the horizon. The view on the way out had been amazing but the view on the way back was fantastic with the backdrop of red and orange sky. The moon also came out to say "Hallo" (that's Afickaans for Hello, don't you know), and this topped off an evening of beautiful sights.

Don't you mean daisies?
Hi you two Yes, watch out for those mozzies. Not good when they get hoing. Those mad Americans seem to get everywhere. Kat has had enough where she is. She's been shopping again and is sporting a nice 'Montecristi' hat! Keep practising the sandcastles. I want to see an improvement by the next. Love Jeannie

Hi Lizzie I really must watch my typing or else it may get me into trouble. Katherine is off to the capital this weekend and hopes to book her trip to the Galapagos islands. ( I think that is the first time I've spelt it right??) ......Then it will be some interesting photos. I wonder if your penguins have relatives there???

Bite Size
So relieved to get internet working again, don't like being out of contact with u guys. It was lovely to hear you tonight and I think you've made Nannan's week/month with your call. It's bank holiday weekend here but not planning too much-no caravaning this time until Dad finds his land-legs!Lottie will be on nights tomorrow...we're hoping for a day out on Monday to Dorset if the weather holds. It's been fabulous recently but a bit worrying as it's soooo dry! What's all this about crazy Americans? Do you really think anyone can beat the Rowlands clan for crazyness? What a thought! Enjoy Safari tomorrow... watch you dont get eaten by anything larger than a mozzi! Love you lots
