Natures Valley

Now past the Garden Route and onto the Sunshine Coast

Proteas were rampant amongst the fields of wild flowers and grass
Set within it's own assortment of micro climates on the Sunshine Coast, Natures Valley has been a little revelation. Off the beaten track enough so that it has escaped the rigors of continual tourist traffic NV offers miles of unspoilt beaches combined with numerous hikes thru rainforest, along cliffs and dry river beds, atop hills and thru fields of six foot tall wild grass(the real wild grass!) daisies and proteas. It is also the starting point for the Otter trail, a world reknowned five day hike to Storms River, our next stop. Our Backpackers, Hikers Haven is a large and very beautiful log and thatched cabin hidden away amongst the trees and although they much prefer real people as opposed to camping backpackers our stay was pleasant. Of all the hiking we've done so far NV has been the most rewarding. Within the space of five hours we tramped over all sorts of terrain and through at least half a dozen different eco systems. We met two lovely new Swedish friends, Ben and Camilla and thanx to some prior info from an Aussie in Plett Bay we knew to stock up on supllies before we arrived as there aint nothin in

Every direction we looked from atop these hills was an awesome view.

One of the many eco systems on our hike, this time rainforest. Magic!

Can you hear the wind?

The photo doesn't do the tall trees swaying and whistling in the wind justice.

Because of the clay base added to the minerals in the mountains, the lagoon is a rich red colour. Looks dirty, but drinkable. Well, so the tell me!
