You’d hardly know it was Christmas day given the sunny weather; the only clue that something different was going on was that we all turned down a breakfast fry-up in the expectation of something substantial at lunchtime. We weren’t disappointed and the 7-course meal - with a bottle and a half of wine each - was the day’s highlight. And the best bit was that Stuart paid for the whole thing. The restaurant was ‘The Greenhouse’ at ‘The Cellars’ hotel and was very impressive - after 6 months of travelling we’d probably find Little Chef impressive though. Obviously there was only one option for the afternoon so once back at the guesthouse the wine again flowed freely whilst we opened presents and played cards. We’d given Gren and Stuart a box of Montecristo cigars for Christmas which went down very well too. In the evening we watched The Big Lebowski which Ed had bought Gemma on video (how old-fashioned does that sound!?). Conclusion: more viewings needed to appreciate its humour.
