Baboon Baboon Baboon

The first baboon we saw.
Yesterday we went on a trip to Cape Point, which is next to the Cape of Good Hope, Simon's Town and Boulders Beach. We did the normal trek up the mountain to the lighthouse to see views of both Cape Point, the southwestern most tip of the African continent, and the Cape of Good Hope, discovered by Bartholomeus Diaz the Portugese explorer. The water was beautiful and the weather was great!

Then we went to Simon's Town for lunch and to Boulders Beach to see the African penguins. Apparently there is an area that we could have gone to actually swim with the penguins, but we didn't know about it in time to go before we had to leave. Simon's Town was a really cool little town right on the coast of False Bay so naturally we had to eat at a seafood restaurant next to the little harbor. We got to drive right along the beach for part of the ride so we got to see a lot of surfers and a fishing competition.

I was riding in a van with nine other people because the charter bus only held 45. Since there were parts of the road

The whole baboon family we saw going into cape point. You can see the little face of the baby hanging from the one in the front.
that the bus wasn't able to go on, we were ahead of them and got to stop a couple of times to wait. One of those times we saw two baboons that came up right next to our car, so we got some good pictures. They are supposed to be very vicious animals they see that you have food... they even recognise the green shopping bag for the grocery store and will run up and steal it. Then we saw five more baboons on the way into the Table Mountain Cape Point National Park. There was a little one walking in the back, three adults and another baby clinging to the underside of the mother. I'm glad we didn't run into them on the trail up the mountain though. On the way back to Stellenbosch, we had to make an emergency stop at the cheetah farm. They were about to close and the price to actually pet the cheetahs was a little more than I had right then, so I'll have to go back. It's basically like a small zoo for cheetahs and large birds where we can pay to go in the cage and pet them and learn about

the animals. There is also an amazing buffet restaurant that is supposed to be wonderful with all kinds of South African style foods. To me it looked like a Disney World restaurant at the animal kingdom, but I still want to go back to give it a try. yeah cheetahs!
