We sang 'Lead me lord' and 'Seek ye first' for the church and they all loved it and cheered!
Hello everyone, It's Olivia today! Starting with some photos from Sunday...

We woke up to a really cold morning and had the usual breakfast.

When we arrived at the school we split into 2 groups to go to junior assembly and senior assembly. Once that was over me, Nathan and Angela went to take a grade 2 class ( which is 6 and 7 year olds) and we taught them spelling and how to spell emotions, fruit and vegetables and animals but, unfortunately we had to leave early to go and meet the sponsored children and we gave them their presents. It was really emotional, especially for me as the girl I was interviewing started crying and she has been through a lot of tough times in her life.

After lunch we were told that we could go into whatever lesson we want and me, Josh and Nathan went to help Mrs. Davis with an English class, at the end me and Annabella went to nursery and sang songs with them whilst the others helped with other classes and helped set up for after school activities. Then most of us apart from Holly, Rosa, Charlie and Robert went

and joined in at a grade 9 class which is 16,17 and 18 year olds and some clever 14 year olds. Mr Mabbett was taking the lesson and was really good and he made them properly disciplined unlike how they usually are treated.

After that half of us went to help the juniors make sparkly elephants and pipe cleaner glasses whilst the intermediates and seniors were making fishes, cards and loom bands.

When we had finished and cleared up we got home and for supper there was the dramatic 'malarone swallowing' which didn't go down too badly! But we washed it down with chicken feet, worms and chicken gizzards! Eughhh!!! But actually Charlie loved them!

We are all missing everyone and hope you are well. lots of love from South Africa xx 😊

RJH writes: We had a full and fruitful day at the school, and the team have come up with a lot of insightful observations this evening to help me write my report to Mrs Ntuli afterwards. The after school clubs were packed and the sponsored children were so grateful for their gifts and letters. Mr Mabbett's ICT lessons with the new

This is Sizwa and he is also 13 but about a foot shorter than Charlie and is in grade 9!! That means he is so clever that he is with 15,16,and 17 year olds!
computers were much appreciated by Grade 7 and Mrs Davis' English lesson with Grade 4, which involved poetry and arrow-making, was a revelation to children and staff alike here. The creativity which is part of the St. Andrew's DNA is alien to most African education but the children love it and respond so well to it when given the opportunity. I have done some observations today as well as assisting the team, but for me the best part was spending some time with my sponsored child. Like the one described above, she became tearful because she gets so little love but she ended the day smiling after we played a little table tennis together.

The malarone moment was difficult for Rosa and Annabella but they managed it in the end, to a cheer from the others who had spent a good ten minutes encouraging and advising them! Tomorrow we'll cut them up before administering.

There is so much more we could say but the children are in bed now and I need mine too! No doubt they will have lots to tell their families when they return. They have already learnt so much from this experience and it

The table looked like we were at a wedding, it was so nice and the food was delicious! . Mrs Ntuli had brought all of her 6 children to come and help !
is a joy to hear them talking about it with each other. In fact, it is just a joy to hear them talking (and praying!) full stop--all of us older ones like this team very much! Tomorrow will see some emotional farewells and a final assembly in our honour at which we shall be performing Chicken and Pap, which will now have some Mopani worms thrown in as well.
