Ok let me explain that. Slept in my bed the first night, second night was in the bush ( no pun intended) third night was on the look out tower, forth was in my bed, fifth was in town after a night out, sixth was on the look out tower.
So much was happened in the past week i'm starting to find it hard to remember what days i've done what.
Had a great night in town on friday evening. went for a meal in the Sleepers Restuarant in town and had Ostrich kababs and were very nice. Then a group of us then went to an opening of a new cocoktail bar in the town and were entertained by a great new singer who is very big in south Africa. Then of to the local bar/clud. OK yes i did drink abit to much. 12 bottles of beer. 5 or 8 large vodkas and coke and at least 10 springbok shooters (Creme de menthe and Amarula). Then all off to the accomadation that the camp has in town. Up in the moring for breakfast in town then back to camp.
At 3pm a small group of us
went on a private game drive not too far from our camp. Within in a few minutes of leaving we were spotting wild animals everywhere. Zebras, giraffes, waterhogs and loads of different deers. Then we were in front of one of the most amazing events i have ever seen. We were drive into a open part of the bush, there was a lone lion lying on its back with blood all round it mouth. We then looked around and about 3 or 4 more lionesses were lying around. Just over the ridge was the most amazing sight. A lion was digging in to with evening meal of a giraffe. We drove up close to the kill, about 4 or 5 feet away from the lion eating the freshly killed giraffe. In the background jackels were started to come into the area as word most of spread that food was in the area. In the about 10 trees around the kill the most of been about 100 to 150 vultures were in wait for the spraps that the lion were to leave. The game drive guide then explained that there was enough meat on the giraffe to feed the lion for
another day so the jackals and vultures would sit and wait. Just then we were to to listen, in the distance we could hear at least 2 more packes of lions, this is normal when there has been a kill as they would try to come in and take the fresh meat.
We spent about an hour just a few feet from the lions ,listening to the sounds of the lion chewing the meat and craking the bones of the giraffe. Funny really when only a couple of hours before we were all saying how beautiful the giraffes were and now thinking how great it was to watch a lion eat a giraffe. That safari.
Enjoy the pics and will update again soon.
