Can you believe it is raining in SA for the past few days - Kelly and i seem to have brought English weather with us...but we've been told it won't last..PHEW! i have some tan but will definitly need more.
It has been a great first week at the church..learning lots of new things. Kelly, johans parents (who we are staying with) and I went for a hike on monday in a nature reserve and manged to go through every possible route - it took twice the time we had thought it would which was quite funny. Also i am quite glad that i am not driving out here....yet anyway, cos on sunday we were going to the massive church in Jo-burg and when we went to take the turning Marian, Johans mum, who was driving didn't decide in time if we were gonna take this turning or not so we were just heading for the 'V' in the intersection - not good! I was half asleep before this was happening and it most definitly woke me up as we were heading for the middle of the intersection..scary!
It was an experience in the evening when a bunch of us piled in to what they call a combi (it's like a mini-bus, taxi thing - NOT very reliable) and went to the same church that we had gone to in the morning with all the SAfrican students from the school - it was pretty fun singing African songs and them teaching Kelly and I Happy Birthday in Afrikans - not very easy. We have picked up some cool words though:

Laker = nice
Combi = mini-bus/taxi
Sure = they just always say this as an expression
Meeke n Dreeke (spelling??) = point and shoot (camera wise)

ooo Marian is teaching my to knit aswell - so much fun - i'm gonna make a little sweater for a child in Mozambique.

Hiya!
Hiya sounds like your having a good time :) lol we had a day of prayer for rain last wed nd now it keeps raining! We tend to get a long period of hot sunshine everyday tho so it's all good! The weatherfore cast for George is never right. I'm gradually picking up more Afrikaans, whilst being laughed at tons lol, but lekker and dankie r both very useful - and easy 2 say! They say 'is it' and 'come with' so much here as well. Wonder if it's the same with you 'up north' lol?! Take care and I'll hopefully see you some time x

Hey christie, remember to never hide chocolate in your socks - especially when hiking - no matter how much you want a tan, keep enjoying yourself and don't get up to too much mischief x x x
