The Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site, a 47 000 hectare area in the Gauteng Province, is one of the 851 sites in the world that are deemed to have such cultural and/or natural significance that they qualify to be accepted as World Heritage Sites by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee. The Cradle of Humankind is one attraction that has the history of human evolution and the famous skull of Mrs. Pes and Karabo the Skull that has all the answers of human evolution. The Cradle Humankind receives national and international recognition and the country is required to ensure that effective and active measures are taken for the protection, conservation and presentation of the site.
