they drive on the left Sorry about the blckout but its been very difficult to get on the net recently because we have been almost continuously on the move. Alot has
happened since my last post after the world cup opening game and so I'm not sure where to begin.
I was happy to see England tie the USA although I would have preferred the USA to win. Its not that I'm super pro USA but its because I have a
ticket to the match of the winner of Germany's group versus the second place team in the England-USA group. I would much rather see a Germany v
ENgland game than a Germany v USA game and this is the reason I want England to place second in its group.
After the ENgland-USA game we partied till 6 am with some locals. It was way too much fun and pictures will follow as soon as I can get them off
Brian's cam. The next day we viewed germany's beautiful demolition of Australia, which is actually a good team, it was just that germany played
superb football. Before the cup I would have said that Germany has only a

dr motodi, our host, and brian small chance of winning the title but after viewing their debut match I
think they can go all the way.
Germany's strength was in its incredible teamwork - there has been no other team that I have seen field such exquisite teamwork. I'm really looking
forward to seeing them this Friday against Serbia in POrt Elizabeth. I've attached some pics of myself and Brian supporting Germany. We evidentely
ended up being on both German and Uruguaian television.
I watched my first live world cup match of Japan v Cameroon which was actually pretty boring. Portugal v Ivory COast the following day was much
better but it still didn't have that BAM feel to it. Hopefully that will arrive in germany's upcoming match.
So let me switch from talking about football for a moment and address some other issues.
I've' always been told driving in the middle east or africa is crazy - well - i can tell u that its not crazy but its downright insane. At night
there are no lights on the tiny two lane highways which lack any shoulder space most of the time. Also, the pavement is

pre usa game with the captn not level and so you bounce
around quite alot which is scary as shit considering there is NO space and no lights and i swear to god I believe I'm going to die everytime i see
an oncoming autombolie dash past me at 140km as we go past at 140km + as well.
Which brings me to another point - people like to comment on germany's autobahns lack of speed limits when it comes to thinking up the ideal place
to race/speed. This is incorrect - the title of racing country should really go to south africa. Although there are plenty of signs on the
highways limiting the speed to 100 or 120km/h nobody pays them any attention. INfact the police will blast down a 100 limit lane at 160 and we've
actually overtaken several such police on our way to port elizabeth.
now you might think it surprising that such driving doesn't cause more accidents - well let me tell u - it does. We passed atleast two head on
collission on the way - they were really horrible crashes and i can't imagine the drivers surivived them - i've not

intra usa game with some peeps ever seen anything like it. All
i know is that I am going to do my best to avoid night driving because that shit is scary.
as if all of the above wasn't bad enough - it started snowing on the way to PE - yes, snowing! I shit you not. I have pictures of snow capped
mountains and of us navigating through snow dumped "highways".
ok so the driving is bad.
but people are exceedingly nice here. I'm not sure how many i've met so far - but they are jsut very nice. One night we partied till 6am by
jumping around with different locals and world cup fans. The entire week has really been somewhat of a haze. Its pretty much drive, watch
football, and party when possible. I haven't had any time to go running just yet - only once.
Brian and Veronica are due to arrive at the lion and crocodile reserve i'm currently staying at. I'm actually freezing my ass off at the moment.
It is seriously ******* cold here at the tip of africa's southern tip. Not sure how the lions, which i heard roaring

ALso, i love the unpredicatable nature of my shower. It must be a boolean system because it is either scorchingly hot or ass kickingly cold - but u
know what - this ia africa and africa is not for pussies as they say.
I'll leave the rest to the pictures. I will only update a few - Brian has most of the best wones which will come later.
Watch the germany serbia game this friday!
