The top tourist attractions in Somalia may sound outrageous to many outsiders, but this once infamous land is now open for tourism. The popular war movie titled Black Hawk Downhas effectively embedded a very notorious stereotype in global media. There is a huge possibility that over 60%!o(MISSING)f the world today still believed that Somalia is still under the state of civil war. But nowadays these views are nowhere near the truth since the Somali conflict occurred over 20 years ago. With Somalia now at peace, it is gradually recovering itself and opening its doors to open-minded travelers all over the world who prefers to witness its potentials

1. The Bakara Market-Shopping

Whether during the 1990’s war times or the contemporary peaceful generation, Bakara Market is a very famous landmark in the country. It is the foremost of the top tourist attractions in Somalia, famous for their bargains. Shopping here would be a breeze for many tourists who look for splendid eateries and cheap national souvenirs. It is located in Mogadishu, the capital city, and the most highly populated tourist spot around.

2. Shanghai Old City

This city is namesake of the fastest growing metropolis in China. Coincidentally, the same can be said about Somalia’s Shanghai Old City in terms of their commercial growth. Still located in Mogadishu, this is the only place that can offer the standard luxury that some wealthy tourists could enjoy. Warlords used to control this area and owned much of the businesses around it. Shanghai Old City is defiant of the low expectations the world has for Somalia and may become the foundation of its rising tourism industry in the foreseeable future.

3. Banadir Govornor House

Built during the italian colonial presence,this great architecture has recently been renovated to its former glory as of 2016 and becoming increasing tourist attraction.

4. Liido Beach of Mogadishu city


Built exclusively for the italian colonialists,this area remains one of the hottest local attractions in the city,a must visit place for seafood,fun and fish.

5.Warsheikh Dolphin beach



Located north of the Capital,This beach is renowned for its dolphins who swim on the shallow and local tourists get the satisfaction of interacting with dolphins in their natural habitat.

6.Gezira beach

this beach located few Km from the airport is serene ,white sandy and a popular gateway

7.Turkish embassy

Newly built beachfront embassy has become a local as well as an international attraction itself located in Somalia capital Mogadishu.
