Lake Nakuru
We left the lodge at 7am for another game drive around Lake Nakuru taking a packed lunch from the lodge with us. We started by going down to the lake shore where because there were fewer people the flamingos were much closer.

As there hadn’t been many flamingos at Lake Nakuru Moses drove us down to the shore of Lake Elmenteita for lunch in the hope that more of them would be there. They weren’t (just a small flock again) but it was a beautiful picnic spot just outside Oasis Camp. We then headed on to Lake Naivasha and Fish Eagle Inn where we were camping for two nights – the road to the lake was in an appalling state – so much dust!.

Whilst Moses & the guys there pitched the tent we wandered down to the lake shore to see if we could spot any hippos. Sadly not, but several fish eagles (the camp is well named!), hammerkop

with their huge nest in a tree on camp and many other waders. We had a bit of time to relax so I moved a log next to the tent to give us somewhere to sit and read. We then headed off to Elsamere Conservation Centre for afternoon tea, a look around the museum (this used to be the Adamson’s house) & a video on the life of Joy Adamson, author of Born Free.

After supper we headed back to our tent hoping the large valentines party at the bar finished before too long… it ended up going in until 3am! I managed to doze off to it but was then awoken around 2am but a large group coming back from a concert rather too merry! We even had someone try to get into our tent by mistake!
