We're finishing up the last of our preparations today. Running endless errands to get the right clothing, presents for our new friends, and general necessities. So far it sounds like our itinerary will be something like this:

-Fly into Accra on Wednesday or Thursday (we leave Wed. at 5 pm)
-Be picked up by our new hero's* friend
-Stay at a guest house in town somewhere
-Spend a few days in Accra (the capital by the way) - go to markets, meet some of Renee's local friends, and go salsa dancing
-Travel 6 or 7 hours to Kumasi where Renee has lived where we will stay with a young man who works with her (Ralph), who will show us around and take care of us for our time there
- Then we will travel to the Cape for a couple of days to enjoy the beach and see the slave castles, the national park and meet with a famous bee man our Papa knows
-Then we'll head back to Kumasi and then Accra for the last few days before we fly home and maybe see Obama (who is coming to Ghana July 10-11!! Who knew?!)

*Renee - we met her trying to figure out the trip to Liberia and she has helped us figure out the whole mess and graciously offered the support of her many Ghanaian friends and even her home in Ghana!!!

AND during all our spare time (haha) we are going to attempt to find some sort of humanitarian organization to hook up with (we hear there may be a Fairhaven kid doing one in Accra) since our efforts to do the volunteer work in Liberia were not so successful.

A few things we've been told to look out for are Khakum National Park that contains an amazing rain forest sky walk, El Mina Castle (where slaves were held), Kente cloth, and wooden carvings. It is on our list today to research more exciting places, events, and adventures that could be found in Ghana.

We will be adding to the blog as we go along and we will see you in two weeks!
