Too much to do, and no time to do it.

Thursday 5/14-school from 8:30-2
Friday 5/15-school from 8:30-2 (last day!) then Banjul to spend all the money i have left on fabrics
Saturday 5/16-getting hair braided, sponsor walk, and clubbing
Sunday 5/17-pack, say goodbyes, leave (flight's at 8:00 pm)

so basically i'm ridiculously stressed out. i'm hand-writing my 12 page paper during school, which is really obnoxious. but i have 5 1/2 pages done, so i suppose that's a good thing. this past weekend i was really sick with a cold (how did i manage to catch a cold in africa? good question. i'm asking myself the same thing). on friday night i went out with Njareh, Grace, Cate, and Allieu to a chinese restaurant in senegambia. we were really loud and obnoxious and had a blast. saturday i was supposed to go to banjul with njareh and grace, but aunty bin had her phone off when njareh called. it's better though, because i was to sick to do anything. i spent the weekend sitting around, reading LOTR, and drinking cough syrup. sunday jarry and i took a walk and got ice cream (it's in the 90s every day here now) and then i went to work at the internet, except it was CLOSED! boo. so i got my hair braided. it's way cool. sort of in a low side ponytail (i have pictures).
monday i was with grade 1. i have more patience this week than i did last week. i'm really cherishing the time i have left with these kids. on of the kids had a birthday, so we sang and ate cake in the afternoon. then i had grade 8 french, which was entertaining as usual. today i was with grade 5. i taught them about water pressure, learned some french, wrote my paper, and corrected their creative writing letters. this afternoon i'm with grade 6. so life goes on her as usual. except every day it gets hotter to the point where instead of sleeping under my mosquito net at night i just bathe in lotion before i go to sleep.
and that sunburn i got the day after easter? still peeling. endless amusement.
so that's about it for now. if i don't update until next thursday, it's because i'm using all my time for academic work (my favorite!)

much love for all (and don't get swine flu, please)

Eventually.....you'll get everything finished
Well Kate, those old days of using the"plan book" could come in handy now. Too much stuff to do, and not enough time..... I think that's the story of most people's lives. Hope your cold is all better. Lots of allergies around here. All the plants and flowers bloomed in the same week and allergic people have been suffering with symptoms since. I imagine with all the new plant if you had allergies. People are worried about the swine flu. not many cases in Massachusetts, but even one is too many. Some of my friends who teach in Texas have had their high schools closed for the week - and this is A.P. exam week and so they have to take alternate exams later. Spring is definitely here. The grass is green and dandelions are sprouting in some lawns- the leaves are out on the trees and daffodils, tulips, azaleas etc. are bringing color to the gardens. Enjoy the rest of your adventure! Miss you-please visit when you get back. I'd love to see some of your new clothes made with the cloth you buy.I bet the fabirc has gorgeous colors! Sincerely, Mother Bio
