After such a glorious time in the beautiful, desolate desert, walking into the train station in Giza was a harsh wake up call. We had several hours to spend until our overnight train to Aswan. Mohamed parked us at a table in a café and stayed with us while we read, worked on our blogs until batteries gave out and people watched. After some time he headed home to bring his wife and daughter back f... Read Full Entry

Pouting, sleepless and a crowd of thousands--please, no!
Two overnight journeys in a day, and that's just the start! You so deserve a good pout, and your words made it so enjoyable. My favorites of your juicy gems were, "By IPhone light, we saw the temple" and "Dr. Atkins' Nightmare Breakfast." Plus, so funny that you'd suffered so much to come and watch the big moment...on a small TV--please, couldn't you have watched from your comfy hotel beds? But how great you all had those moments alone in the temple, got to see the wonders of Philae and Abu Simbel and perhaps became famous on Egyptian and China morning shows. Even in a little group and with guides lined up, Egyptian travel doesn't seem so easy.

So you can feel the pain
Yeah, it was a challenging day, but it was worth it in the end. I keep doing the Power Travel thing even when I don't plan on it. I am glad you are enjoying the blog and thanks for your great comments.

Someone give that boy some coffee!
How lucky were you to score your own cabin on the overnight train? Good work. Sorry the sunrise festival was a fizzer, but you guys did very well to be polite and go along with those plans. The tour company may need some feedback that 11:30pm starts need to come with a calmer driver, blankets and coffee on arrival :) Hope your hotel room in Luxor was comfortable.

Coffee, please and thank you.
You are very right about the tour company. I think since this was a twice a year thing that it went right over their heads. As you well know, perfectly laid plans can go awry while on the road and we smile (sometimes later than others) and keep on going. Thank you so much for your comments. I am happy to hear from you

Hi B. Have a day off and enjoying your blog and coffee. Your claustrophobic crawl woke me right up! How I love your descriptors! LOL. Glad to see you enjoying yourself. You must be exhausted. Thank you for the trip to a foreign land via your blog. Travel home safe! xoxo
