Chobe NP Game Drive

Approximation of the route taken when visiting Chobe NP.

Setting outSetting outSetting out

This morning's game drive was in modified Toyota Landcruisers.

Game Drive

Set out early this morning into Chobe National Park. Were only inside the park boundary for a matter of minutes and had spotted a herd of elephant walking along the ridgeline. Impala, puku, turtle, warthog, hippo, banded mongoose, and crocodile were also spotted on the way, as well as a variety of birds.

River Cruise

At 1530 we loaded up with other guests at the hotel on the river cruise boat, and spent about two and a half hours looking at the animals close to the river banks. Initially, it was just large animals. As we went further upstream, a greater range of smaller animals were also spotted.

Dead hippo. The guides said that this animal had been dead for several days. Its hide still seemed to be intact, although there was obvious interest in getting under its skin.

Good Selection of Animals
Doug - I hadn't realised you had done Botswana too. I have only this evening been looking through a brochure on Botswana, intending to take my friend Steph there in May/June. I wondered if we would see a good selection of animals - you have shown that we can expect to do so.
