Baines boababs to Kubu Island.

After we realized what a long drive it was to get to Baines Boababs we decided that and early start to the day was needed. We were up at around 5 am and watched a spectacular sunrise. There was toilet facities and a shower. All outdoors and open. Nothing like getting in touch with mother nature. Once all was done and we had breakfast made by Adrian we hit the road. But first off to see these boababs that are so famous. What a spectacle they are. Their sheer size was unbelievable. I mean HOLY CRAP!!! It was breath taking and nothing like I have ever seen before. So after a few photo's we were off on our epic trip down to Kubu island but we soon had a problem- limited fuel which we figured we could make it to the next town to fill up. We figured out today that Adrian is going soft, he has lost his touch to haggle, a local charged him 40 Pula for wood!!!We get there and there is no fuel, pumps aren't even working. So we had to use some of the Jerrycans just so we could make it to Nata. So we arrive now at the petrol station and fill up, Adrian missions off to find food and returns with scones. Like 3 normal ones and 3 colour ones with raisins and other things inside. Once we fill up with fuel and water we head for Kubu with enough scones to last the Queen a few tea parties. So now we have been driving on this dirt road for a while and next thing a massive flat road appeared next to our dirt road. So being the avid adventurers we are we decide to drive down this road. It was a few kilometers long and relatively flat bar a few bumps and soft sand. We were driving at about 85 kmph. But good things come to an end and so did our road. Now we are quite a distance from the dirt road the GPS said we should travel on. But between us and the road was a plain with hills and shrubs. So we decide what the hell we are adventures and drive in an almost straight line without any tracks to follow, dodging anthills and warthog holes we make the dirt road and continue to make good time to Kubu but now we were going to be late. Oncewe arrive at the camp we set up the one tent, we took some chairs and champagne to a good viewing spot and watch the sun set. What a speechless experience!!! We had oxtail for supper and a glass of good port. Then settled in for the nite.Advice for the day: don't haggle alone. Take a few and do the good guy bad guy routine.Adrian's quote for the day: 'man this is hard work' this was said while trying to take pictures. Dylan
