Guided Tour From Airplane Window?

I think it would be cool to hear what you're flying over, in your headsets.

Hi all!

I have an idea that I'd like to get some feedback on. It would be a guided tour of the US (or anywhere else, actually), triggered by GPS. So if you're flying over the Saint Louis arch, you'd hear, "on your left, the Saint Louis arch," and then some details about it. It could have music too... when you're flying over New Jersey, you'd hear Bruce Springsteen and Frank Sinatra. I'm a TV producer and I am thinking of producing this. What do you think? Would you listen to it?

I think it's a good idea... I'd listen to it on short-haul flights - Europe would be fantastic.

Long haul - on your left - the Atlantic, on your right - the Atlantic... Reply to this

Yes, it seems like a fun thing for those that booked window seats at least. It may be better suited for smaller aircraft though. On your average wide-body not even 25% of the passengers may have access to a window, the wings also steal a lot of the view. I like the idea when it comes to featuring local artists and bands, maybe even interviews with local profiles from other areas. It would be a good idea to represent some of the local unknown talents too; elevator music à la Frank Sinatra is already being played to death by a number of airlines in an attempt to sedate their passengers upon boarding the aircraft.
