I plan on traveling throught Japan for one year, on foot. Any help on how to make this possible would be great.
I have wanted to do this for quite some time now.
Travel from the bottom of Japan to the top on foot. I plan on spending a year there doing this.
Obviously I would need to pack light. What do you think I should bring? How much money do you think I would need? Has anyone done anything similar to this? Is there anything you think I should know? Do you know of a company that makes honest to god quality stuff that won't wear out soon if at all. (Shoes, clothing, sleeping bags, etc.)
Thank you,
AJ
Reply to this AJ,
Check out the Pacific Crest Trail's Association webpage at http://www.pcta.org This site has lots of info. on how to hike from Mexico to Canada, journals from people who've made the hike, gear recommendations, etc. I undertand that hiking throughout Japan will be different than hiking in the wilderness areas of the Pacific Crest Trail, but you might at least get some ideas for how to care for the blisters you'll get.
I hope it helps,

Reply to this Hi, My husband and I lived in Japan (Tokyo and Sendai) for two years. We travelled most of Japan althougth not on foot. One thing to remember is that Japan is seriously rugged, tropical and mountainous. If you have any specific questions about certain cities or areas or if you need help translating anything just let me know! aliciaka@yahoo.com
