I'll declare my interests, and apologise if you think this is blatant advertising, it's not meant to be so I haven't published my website address, but I would appreciate your help.

We've just launched a new travel site which although it's been around for quite a while has been being tidied up and a lot of stuff taken out. It has two purposes.

One is to take advertisements from businesses in tourism who will pay to do so. I make no bones about that but it's not why we subscribe to travel forums.

Our main aim is to provide the information travellers want in the way they want it. For example, an adrenalin junkie planning to skydive over the ocean might also want to dive the Great Barrier Reef and raft a flooded river before Jet Skiing around a tropical island. After that, she'll want somewhere to stay.

The driving force behind our site is to provide the information travellers are looking for in one, easy to find, place which is why our site is organized by Country and Category.

We also include features on places and activities which are updated monthly and especially articles relating to eco tourism and specialised travel. Our current articles focus on Women in Tourism and the World Responsible Tourism Day in November.

So please let us have your thoughts and if you want to know our website, just ask and I'll publish it.

TIA

I always check websites for info on any potential place I am about to visit. I like ones that offer creative practical functions for the traveler and are updated regularly.

For example, I recently traveled to Hong Kong and the HKTB tourism board website (http://www.hktb.com) was very helpful and informative with updated info.

Also, another site about China (www.synotrip.com/hong-kong) - with Hong Kong included - had an online itinerary. This was really useful and a cool unique idea which helped me get info about potential places and things I was going to do. I was able to print this off and even though I did not do everything on the list, the information I did have was really useful.

Hi Definatley well organised links to relevant infromation about each country would be fantastic although travel/the world is so huge there is so many different things to research. Probably from a more commercial point of view, my ideal web page would be say, click on a link for country, eg Italy, then link for flights, visa, etc, then subcategory link for different areas with which then group say local hotels, tours, experiences etc. I find a lot of travel web sites confussing in the way their organised and very poor with the amount of information presented. I'd be keen to check out your web site.

Cheers
Evan

Hi Evan, thanks for your comments
As I said we're building a new site so please take a look at www.traveljunkies.com.
Search by country or just enter a keyword in any of the search boxes.
Tell us what you think.
Please remember, it's early days for us.
TIA
Cliff

I always rely on my friends' advice but it is verified thru the internet. I maintain several links to ensure that I will get invaluable info for the places that I want to visit. My main requirement for a site is a place where I could see the different attractions that could be found in the area, including reviews and relevant info about the attractions. Also some photographs that feature the attractions. If you are interested to look one example click my signature to give you an idea what makes a travel site more appealing to travellers. Good luck.
