Hi Keith & Pete,
Fully agree with the first item on your list. Noise canceling have now been for a few weeks part of my travel essential too and I really wonder why I didnt purchase these earlier ! Absolutely travel life changing especially in the airplane and in the airport while trying to get some peace and quiet prior to the boarding. The sound quality when listening to music is quite excellent too, which is a nice added bonus.

Reply to this A good book. Its easy to carry, passed the time well, and doesnt take up space.

3. camera
4. snack of chocolate and mixed nuts (since I am gluten-free food on airplanes is a big issue)
5. sudoku
These are a must for me to help pass the time as I rarely sleep on a plane except for the half hour before landing.
Reply to this Hello all, we are sitting in the KL airport and see we are late in answering this string.
What a great one.
We agree with all the themes above and have little to add except we usually stick our swimsuits in carry-on as it is difficult to buy them in other countries (one that you like or fit well).
We sleep very well on planes, often falling asleep before the freakin' thing takes off but this last trip we've taken Melatonin and yowza what a nice nap!
Always take an extra pair of glasses in case of emergency.
Happy travels.

Reply to this Just reread the above. Whoops, posted this in the wrong forum. Laughing at myself. Must have been doing too much people watching in the airport.
Anyway, good things to stick in your carry on....where ever that thread is. Gosh I must be out of practice with commenting.
Having a great time in the Philippines.

I thought I was a pro until I read your list. You're a god. I would replace your little pillow with a blowup neck pillow. I hate my head falling to one side.

Reply to this I've never done a long-haul flight before so this thread has been quite an eye-opener for me. In the past I've relied on:
(1) iPhone and headphones - I've never heard of noise cancelling earbuds before but I'm going to look into them now!
(2) Book - make sure it's one I've already started so that I can slip right back into it easily.
(3) Earplugs and an eye mask for if I want to try and sleep in silence rather than with music.
(4) Warm socks, because I usually take my shoes off within an hour of the flight taking off. I'm just not comfortable sitting there in my shoes.
I reckon now that I'll add a netbook to the list. 😊
Reply to this Definitely:
1. Neck pillow
2. Water
3. Things to keep the kids busy
4. Snacks
5. slippers - my feet always get cold
6. Gum
7. Ipad with games, music and movies
8. Blanket
9. Head phones
10. Paper and a pen
