Anybody have an idea for a wild and crazy trips you don't have the guts to try? I'm looking for an idea for my trip and the sky is the limit (almost, really $10k is the limit)
Howdy travelbloggists,
I'm a fairly well traveled guy and I'm looking for a new adventure. I want to hear you ideas of a crazy, tough, unique, maybe never-been-done trip or expedition to anywhere in the world. What is your greatest dream trip? Where is the craziest place you've ever been? What have you always wanted to see or do but never tried? Any cultures particularly strike your interest?
A few ideas I'm currently tossing around:
Trekking, climbing, and skiing in Tajikistan.
Exploring tribes deep in DR Congo. Also curious about Central African Republic and most of central Africa really.
Turkmenistan strikes me as fascinating.
but... i have a budget of ~$10k or less, 6 months or less, solo unless I can convince my 60 yr old dad to join me (again, he's tough!). I Plan on leaving approximately 1 yr from now. I have an American passport so Iran, Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, and Pakistan are not really on my list.
So where would you go?
For reference, a few of my favorite past trips:
Visiting remote hill tribes in West Papua (Indonesia)
Trekking Borneo
Travelling to Mursi tribe etc. in Southern Ethiopia
Hitchhiking all over the middle east
Kayaking in the himalayas
Annapurna trek and more
Reply to this My wife just suggested you got married.
Could get away with it for less than $10k and be exciting for about 6 months. mmmmmm not quite sure where she's going with this.
Sorry, good luck, be interested to hear how you go.
Reply to this LOL @ mnm!
Heres one ive thought about for YEARS..i managed to get to Ulaan Bator but always thought how cool a trip through Mongolia to Siberia ending in Russia would be....on yak or horse or foot anyway you can. Not sure if its been done, I know there is an aussie guy at the moment riding on horseback from Ulaan Bator through the Gobi Desert..not sure where he is off to next.
Reply to this I would like to head to the Amazon and just get lost in that.. A week or so would not be enough and a few months would be great..
Also head up in the Arctic Circle for a couple of months in the winter with no communications etc in a hut or living the local native people such as the Sami in Lapland or even aboriginals in north Australia. Learn the traditions and spiritual beliefs and get back to basics..
Reply to this My next goal is to see the worlds largest lava lake Nyiragongo in DR Congo, it looks amazing. Its not far over the border from Rwanda, apparently you can arrange overnight camping trips on the rim...
Reply to this I would go with Antarctica too, who knows how much longer it will even exist as we know it. Having said that, I like the idea of areas few people get to see. Also a Safari in Africa has always been a dream of mine, camping and all the photography I could ever want.
