It's again this time of the year when we are blessed to be in love...

What are your plans? Feel free to discuss this only on the 15th in order not to spoil the surprise... Reply to this

We are in love and we celebrate everyday so we don't acknowledge Valentines Day.

Life is grand!

Life is grand isnt it? And this love stuff isnt too bad either 😊

Ive never been romantic, Ive never celebrated Valentines day or paid it any attention until I met my giant - hes a hopeless romantic for a 6'4 tattoo'd bodybuilder. He just woke me up (at sunrise) to tell me "The Sun rises and sets for me because of you"...awww. Last year he organised a grand romantic gesture and quick getaway up the coast for us, this year Ive been telling him to put it on hold because we have 56 DAYS (and counting!) until we leave for borneo and whatever lies beyond so.....im going to suprise him (and not by putting giant moths in his lunchbox either).

Im a sax player so on monday (Valentines day here) he will get a call from me telling him my car has broken down at the marina (my car is 6 months old but anyway)...Ive organised to borrow my friends 1905 pearling lugger so will sail him out to the continental shelf into international waters and set off some fireworks (unfortunately fireworks are illegal here due to the fire hazard) that I somehow acquired, get out my vintage 1937 tenor and play him Dire Straits Lily was here and Total Control by Martha and the Motels and feed him and tell him that my sun rises and sets with him too....

And not sink and get back in time for work - thats the plan - just hope the ocean will be kind to me as its a pretty long way out to international waters.

D MJ Binley, That is my point also. We should celebrate our love every day as we do and be thatnksful for eachother. But still.... good to have that day to be surprised by your loved one... 😉

Cindy, That is a cool one!!! Reply to this

Wow cindy, I'm impressed....your plan is amazing....and now we also know that your partner does not read TB...or he better not till the 14th!

I agree with Merry and Jo. I hate....and I mean it...the over-priced pinkish celebrations in restaurants...they will never get me on those...

Ok, When the year of the Tiger meets her Valentine, it is time for serious romance in the Maldives!! this was our last year Valentines celebrations...and we didn't get hit by any of the stupidly over-priced offer on the 14th. Must have been my best Valentine ever that I remember.

But this entry Romantic Venice in style...a little luxury is never a bad thing... must have been our most romantic ever experience. And it was done with Leslie in August. Put it simple, you can be romantic style if you have a family, it's little more difficult if you are single...

We are heading to North Thailand and Laos tomorrow for 10 days...on the road. And on the 14th, we'll be on a slow boat from the Thai border on our way to Luang Prabang....this should be backpacker style, not really confortable, and I admit, no surprise on the 14th...as not much will be available around...but my little family will be with me, and this is the best! Years ago before I met my husband (and we've been married 17 years next month) I had one man in my life who was inconsistent with VD. Some years you'd get something nice and some years you'd nothing.

I dated another guy who gave flowers each year and it seemed rather robotic. Actually after the other guy I thought I would love that but he didn't really put any thought in it and just sent the flowers. I actually think he did it because he wanted to see the reaction of the women I worked with. (we worked in the same place)

When I met my husband he told me he didn't believe in VD. He sees this holiday as created by the florists and card companies. He does not want some one to tell him when to tell me he loves me. I find there is a lot more romance in what I have now. I get surprised during the year. He'll send flowers or a million other things just to say I was thinking about you and I love you. It is wonderful.

I hate this day for the women who sit at work waiting and hoping their loved one is going to send some thing and does not. Their disappointment is palpable.

Cindy I love your plan. You have a very creative mind.
I hope our paths cross some day as I'd love to hear you play the sax.

My boyfriend is working next Monday afternoon and evening. So, we will go out in the morning, buy flowers and chocolates, and have a sweet treat and some coffee at one of the local cafes. 😊

I love Valentines Day. I also love Christmas, Easter and the rest of them, because we get to do something special that we dont do everyday.

Cindy, your plan sounds so romantic!

I'm going to be half way up Mt Kinabalu, Borneo, by Valentines Day. I don't think that huffing and puffing up a mountain and sharing a dorm room will be very romantic, but lets hope that the view will be a knockout! Reply to this

Heyyy!!! I made it 😊 Very sore arms - a lotttt of sail to hoist up and a lottt of frigging in the rigging - been a while since I sailed anything let alone a 1905 lugger. Thanks to the 2011 GPS made it to international waters and set off the fireworks without any real hassles once I had a course and sails set, coming back in sailed into a headwind so a bit harder going..lots of tacking and ..yes, lots of sail on a boat that big and old but was worth every minute.

Had a bit of trouble getting him there - he said..."Your car is 6months old, you have full factory roadside assist..i cant work on a car like that, you need to call the dealership"..so I resorted to..."Um, yeh but im drunk so cant drive" LOL!

Hope everyone is enjoying their valentines and Monica...awesome! sure you had an awesome view..will be there shortly 😊 take pics!

Oh and we both missed work...and my body is killing me - id forgotten how physical sailing can be..bed time :-) Reply to this
