in australia you have 2 choices to stick next to the coast with the people, or in the bush with the, well bush
- don't get caught in the tourist trap of byron bay, stay just down the road at brunswick heads
- when in sydney catch the train up to katoomba, and if possible stay the night in the blue mountains to get in some great bushwalks, there are literaly thousands everywhere, and a bit of op shopping, great for vintage shopping and far cheaper than sydney
- catch the free tourist tram in melbourne
- spend a day in st kilda (melbourne) just to wander, drink coffee in a little cafe, eat fish and chips on the beach, and whatever you do go to the esplandade hotel, particuarly on a saturday night
- why a place is advertised as great and relaxing, i.e. noosa, run away, look for a little town just outside for the a better beach, better prices, and better atmosphere
- climb mt warnington and if your up early enough be the first to watch the sunrise IN AUSTRALIA
- have yum cha in china town
- get the chance to get up to the snowy mountains in summer or winter, summer is the perfect time to climb mount kosiosku (the highest mountain on the continent), if you don't reach any of the other highest peaks, at least you know that you will have done one on the list in 1/2 a day
- get your self along to a festival (music especially), tickets can be expensive, but its a great aussie tradition and you'll have an absolute ball. check out triple j website (just google it) for details
take hat, sunscreen and bathers, and have fun
