We are 2 guys, and our dream trip is a reallity, 5 weeks is Australia (starting 9th December).
We are thinking in renting a campervan for one month to travel along East Coast from Sydney to Cairns.
We would like some information about what we should not miss.

And do think that is possible to have time to catch a flight to see Uluru, or its not whorth it for the price?

Thx from Portugal

The East coast is definitely known for being the party coast of oz. Byron Bay is good for its dolphins and nightlife, quite a relaxed atmosphere there, and the backpackers are lively. Fraser Island (though I didn't go cos of time restrictions) is also supposed to be good. I dind't rate Brisbane or the gold coast that much, thought they were over-developed, but again, lots of pubcrawls and nitelife, so it depends what you want to spend your time doing. I'd say Airlie beach and a 3 day cruise around the Whitsundays was definitely worth it - they are beautiful, and being on a boat for 3 days was very relaxing! Cairns is tropical, again not huge amounts to do, but good nitelife, and good skydiving. North of Cairns is Cape Tribulation - where the rainforest meets the reef - you can get out to the great barrier reef from here (or Cairns but its quicker from Cape Trib), and the backpackers again are good fun and in the rainforest.
Uluru is an interesting one. It would be a shame to miss it if you could afford the flights. The accommodation there is more expensive (think it cost us about £10 to camp for a nite) and it tends to be quite busy, but its nice to see the sun rise on it, and the Olgas are also close by to Uluru and worth a visit.
Hope that helps
