Is it best to travel with a laptop or use internet cafes or simply update my blog when I return home?

I'm thinking about buying a netbook to travel with for 4 months travelling through SE Asia but I'm worried about safety and wondering if I'd just be better off using internet cafes.

What are your opinions and does anyone have any recommendations of good netbooks? And is it easy enough to find places with wifi?

I'm travelling through Bali, Java, Borneo, Singapore, KL and Thailand. Reply to this

im talking to you on a laptop now

i say dont worry about safety.
if you are using the laptop to upload your travel stories and photos then your stories and photos are safe in the event of it being stolen.

anyway. if a laptop gets to travel around the world for a few months and then gets stolen at least you can say it had a good life!

its a total pain in the behind waiting for hostel computers to be freed up

we travelled with a small notebook. access widely available and lots of places free. u can always hide it pretty well in day pack or bag and skype is great way to stay connected iwth home. those littlr acer machines are cheap.getting down to around $250.load photos up, send home stay incontact with fellow travelleres. allgood. happy trails Reply to this
