Home sickness must get most of us at some point in our travels, how do you cope best with it?
Reply to this Skype, social gatherings with fellow ex-pats, making/importing food you used to enjoy back home, watching tv programmes from home.
And importantly, the thought that one day, soon enough, the opportunity to be where you are and experience what you are seeing and hearing, will be over.

The internet is great for instant and inexpensive contact with family and friends, whenever you want.
Also, backpacker hangouts are good when you feel a need to be around fluent English speakers who come for a similiar culture to your own and to find the food that reminds you of home.
I think a lot of homesickness is caused by travelling for the wrong reasons. If you are having emotional problems at home, you will likely find the same problems elsewhere. So, travel for the love of travel, or to discover if you like it, rather than to excape from family, work, boyfriend... problems.
Try to hang out with nice and positive people, during your travels. Spending more time than absolutely necessary with negative and/or mean people can bring on a longing to be with those at home who care about you, which is pretty inconvenient, when getting to them would be so expensive.
