Came across this programme on C4 toady. Anyone else watching it. Its quite interesting.

The first episode was about a well to do English family who upped sticks and traveled the world for a year looking for new and challenging experiences. At the start they slightly annoyed me at their lack of interest in what they were doing but they really got into it.
Also the show is looking for other families about to embark on a similar journey, so it might be of even more interest to some.

I've watched both episodes and have quite enjoyed them, although you're right there are some really annoying moments, but then I suppose we all have 'moments' when we're a bit of a ****.

The wife in the first episode annoyed me the most when she said she wasn't immunising her children... completely irresponsible IMO, thankfully no harm seems to have come from it though. Also when she pushed past the locals to see the Dalai Lama, was awful. It appeared like she seemed to think she had more right to be there.

Like you said though they all seem to get involved in the end and it looked like they had a blast. And credit where credit's due, the children were open to new experiences, with minimal complaints so they must be doing something right.

I've mixed emotions about the second episode... It seemed like the Father just wanted to sail, and wasn't really interested that his family were there too... Although he came round in the end.

I've actually sent them an email detailing my family's travels next year, so who knows, maybe we'll be on TV. I've recieved an automated response back, which just says they pay for nothing and it's completley funded by the family, so bear that in mind if you do think of applying.

The whole Dalai Lama thing annoyed me. It was like the had some god given right to meet him. It came across as very arrogant. Good PR for the big man though! Maybe the Pope should go on!!

She really should have immunized her kids too and the husband. My girlfriend's mother is a homeopathic doctor and she would never say not to get the injections.

Going to watch the second one tomorrow!

ps Hope you get on TV! Reply to this

am finding the show interesting but what irked me was the mothers refusal to immunise her children regardless of the potential risks. Reply to this
