one month in October, or three months next spring? First time out of the country

I was wondering what you guys think about this. I am waiting to go on a backpacking trip to Europe. I have a lot of time to save up my money, but I was thinking about going in October for only a month, because I will only have about $5,000 for the whole trip at that time. However if I wait all the way untill next spring to go, I will be able to go for a much longer time. So I came to ask, is a month a good amount of time to stay in Europe? Or would it be wise to wait and save up to go for a longer amount of time. Also, how is traveling in winter? Could that be an option for me? I realise this sounds like an immature post, but I don't really know what to expect. Thanks for any help Reply to this

The mediterranean areas are fine in October. I spent three weeks in October in Italy and SE France, and it was still warm enough to go to the beach most days (if I had wanted to). Reply to this

I think that you should wait till next season. In october is autumn, and in most places will be raining which is not good for backpacking especially. Reply to this

I'd wait until you can go for longer. If you're going to fly a long way then you might as well see as much as you can while you are there.

There's a lot of Europe to see!!
