What to see between Xian and Shanghai?

I'm in Chengdu at the moment waiting for my visa extension (I hate Chinese bureaucracy). Anyway after this I head to Xian for 2 or 3 days and then eventually will hit Shanghai to visit some friends. Was wondering if some experienced China travels could recommend me some worthy stops along the way. I've heard Suzhou and Hangzou were good, what about the 3 gorges dam, or yangtzee river cruise, worth it? Any other suggestions welcome. Reply to this

Hangzhou is absolutely beautiful and very close to Shanghai and you should definitely go see that. If you are into hiking, there are loads of mountains in Jiangxi and Hubei provinces. I live in Jiangxi and Mount Lushan and Shang Qing are some famous mountains here which are gorgeous. I've never been to Guilin in Guangxi province but I've heard many people ranting and raving about the scenery there.

I recommend Hangzhou for it is one of the most renowned and prosperous cities of China for much of the last 1,000 years, Hangzhou is also well-known for its beautiful natural scenery. Reply to this

Xian is a famous historical city and a popular travel destination. Suzhou and Hangzhou are close to Shanghai, well known for their beautiful natural scenery. Yangtze river cruise is really wonderful. While you are cruising down on the Yangtze River, you will appreciate the spectacular landscapes in Three Gorges region. You can contact Absolute China Tours to get more information and advice. There are many interesting tours on their web and they can customize the tour for you. Hope you enjoy your trip! Reply to this
