Visa runs

visa run from Ko Phangan

We're considering extending our stay in Thailand, I know that doing a land crossing gives you only 15 days, but that's all we need.

We want to be here for full moon and then want to see the west coast, Krabi, Railay, the national park and we have to be out of the country on the 4th at the lastest.

My questions concerning this are, is it easier to go to Malaysia or Burma for the visa run, and expenses. I tried looking in the search for anything relevant but the only thing I could find was from 2005 and I don't think that would be of much help now unfortunatly. So if anyone has done this recently or has any helpful advice it would be much appriciated!! Thanks 😊 Reply to this

Hey guys!

I'm guessing Malaysia would be easier, mostly due to the ease of entry and price of visa (free). From Ko Phangan you can catch the train South into Malaysia (comfortable sleeper) and be back the next day! Train from Surat Thani to Penang about eight hours. Simples!!

That doesn't seem toooooo bad. I'm guessing it would be cheaper and easier then applying in country for an extended visa? (I've heard you can do that somewhere... only a rumour so not 100% on it) Reply to this
