Some of us have come across this......where a total stranger offers you a place to crash, a guided tour around, etc.
Mine was up there in Inverness, Scotland where my 2 friends and I joined a day tour. The tour operator invited us 3 to dinner at his place with his family where he actually returned our payments for the tour. In his own words, he said "I met a total stranger in your own country who showed me kindness. This is my way of reciprocating that kindness". Quite heartwarming, don't you think?
Reply to this I found the kindness and consideration people showed me as a parent travelling with a little child in Thailand incredible.
I felt that me and my child were always safe, because there always seemed to be somebody or everybody watching out for us. One time I lost one of my daughters shoes, and sure enough somebody knew where it was. I really felt we could come to no harm, because of the way people were.

Reply to this There is a Lonely Planet book called The Kindness of Strangers - it's a collection of about 30 stories about kind people that the writers had met on their travels. They are all fantastic!

May I know whose the author of that book?_?
In the Philippines, people are known for their hospitality be it towards there countrymen or to a stranger.😊
Reply to this Well, each story has a different author, but the book is published by Lonely Planet.

Usually, Lonely Planet collections of stories have a number of authors.
Reply to this The story goes back 32 years. And I still remember it.
While driving through the forests of Kerala, India, in the middle of the night, our car broke down. It was pitch dark and we were shit scared. A passing Jeep stopped by. The driver hauled up our car to a nearby village. There were no hotels. He offered to take us to his home. That got us worried. What's the motive? Since we had no option, we said yes.
At his home he introduced us to his wife. While we rested that night, this gentleman, a garage owner, worked on the car. The car was ready in the morning. He offered us coffee and wished us goodbye. He didn't even charge for his services!
A thank you from us wasn't big enough.
Reply to this Sometimes, it feels like an alien feeling............discovering how some strangers we meet unconditionally offer us kindness at a time we most need it.

I perfectly understand how you felt, Prakash. Perhaps because of what's happening around us, our mindset is such that we readily doubt if someone goes out of his way to help. Not thinking some bits of kindness go without a price tag. Sometimes, I feel they're angels sent to us ............ that may sound foolish to some, but I do feel that way sometimes. 😊
Reply to this Lili,
The incident was 32 years ago. The period and the motives were still still somewhat nobel.
To be honest, if it happened today, I would be worried to accept the offer from a complete stranger in the middle of the night in thick rubber plantations of Kerala! It's indeed sad, how are minds have got corrupted to suspect every deed.
