I always buy one. I use it as my general student card for getting discounts in shops across England and it's useful for travelling. I have bought discount flights with it, and I've never had it turned down in any country (unless they simply don't do student discounts). Reply to this

Anyone know how to get one if you're not a student? 😊 Reply to this

They have a card available for full time teachers and a card available for those under 26. If you don't fall into either these or the student category then you're not able to get this card. Reply to this

They are pretty lax about checking your student details though. The last one I bought I just paid for online and entered the name of my uni and the card came through the post and I added my own photo. No-one checked whether I was at the uni, and I could have put anyone's photo in the slip!
I don't know how many countries the youth card and teacher's card are recognised in though - although they would still enable you to purchase the discount flights and so on. Reply to this

Yeah, i just gave the guy behind the desk the name of the uni i had applied to, being out of 6th and not in uni i wasnt sure if i actually qualified for one, plus because my 6th form student id had expired i no longer had any student id to try and get discounts with. Yeah, he gave me the card to put the photo into. So far i havent found many opportunities to use it (outside of cinemas) but maybe i just havent been pushing hard enough...its not bad for 9 pounds and looks kinda official. Reply to this

You can use it in any shops that offer student discount. When travelling a lot of hostels accept it. Just get in the habit of flashing it everytime you have to pay for something! 😊 Reply to this
