How did you spend your last birthday?

Did you do something special, or was it just another day?

I've spent my last few birthdays in Japan - birthdays, along with Christmas, are the times that I do miss family and friends back home a little more than usual.

Last birthday (Jan) all my friends were working but I had the day off, so after feeling down about it all the day before, I headed out snowboarding for the day. Being a weekday there were hardly any others out - probably more staff than customers!

What ways have you been able to celebrate because you've been in a foreign country at the time? Reply to this

Last year, I went to Stamford Bridge for a Chelsea/Schalke Champions League match. This year, I'll be either in Thailand or Laos. I want to be abroad for at least my next five birthdays. Reply to this

A week ago I spent my 25th in a jungle village on a remote island in Vanuatu drinking something called kava. It looks like muddy water and it's made by mashing up the roots of a certain plant then adding water. It's not alcoholic but it's definitely got something in it because after 8 coconut shells of it you can barely stand! Reply to this

We(me, my boyfriend and daughter) usually do something special for our birhdays. Sometimes we go someplace.

For my last birthday we went to Regensburg, Germany. We sat by the river and walked around the town having snacks, icecream and coffee. Reply to this

Mine was so boring. Though I originally had plans to travel for excitement but I wasn't able to have it done since I was not able to anticipate the shortage until the very special day.

Though ice cream and other yummy stuffs were present but still not enough to make the thing worth remembering. Anyway, it's once upon a time. Reply to this

Today is my boyfriends birthday. We are off to the zoo here in Munich when my daughter gets home from school. Then afterwards a restaurant in the centre of Munich and a walk around the old town with some icecreams. Reply to this

Taganga, Columbia! I did two dives in the morning and got nitrogen narcosis on my deep dive. Sunset drinks on a hotel rooftop, danced up a storm at the local club, stopped off on the way home at a private party and walked home just as the sun was rising the following day ... unforgettable!! My last birthday I think I was, or just in a clinic, or just about to go in... Either way it was boring... Reply to this

I was in San Fransisco for my cousin's wedding. I have a lot of relatives, only a few of which live in California, so we rented a huge house and all stayed in it together. To escape for a breather, I walked from the Golden Gate Bridge to downtown Toyko and back again for a day adventure. Truly one of my more favorite cities to visit. When I got home my aunts had bought a huge chocolate cake and I blushed as they all sang to me in the dining room. Good family is an amazing gift. Reply to this

My last birthday, I was in Guatemala solo traveling, I was in antigua and didn't want to spend it making new friends so I went down to the coast, monterrico. It was a week day so the entire town was dead, no one anywhere to be seen on the black sand beaches. I stayed at a small beach hostel, the only other person in the dorm was a guy from quebec. I started to get a little bored and was wishing I hadn't left my new friends in antigua. I stayed up staring at the stars and went to bed early. In the morning I talked to my quebeceqois roommate, whom I discovered was in Monterrico doing the exact same thing I was doing, it was his birthday too! What are the chances, in a tiny town with virtually no tourists that the only two travelers in a dorm were both celebrating their birthdays? Any other travelers share my b day, Feb 11? Reply to this

The Munich Oktoberfest starts on my boyfriends birthday, this Saturday. So, it is a good day to get out of the city. We are going to the mountains.

Here is where we are going.
Zug Spitze

There will be lots of snow up there, like there is all year round. Reply to this

My birthday was in June. We went to the dinosaur museum in Munich, and then hung around the city, having dinner, coffee and ice creams. Reply to this

Awesome, this post is still going. For my last birthday, I ended up in Vang Vieng, Laos, tubing down the river (Vang Vieng is famous for it). Forget best birthday, it was one of the best days of my life. Reply to this

My birthday last week was spent in Pyongyang, North Korea. I visited a Silk Embroidery Factory, a Taekwondo School, and finally the Mangyongdae Children's Palace - where I witnessed an amazing concert performed by the children who sang, danced and played musical instruments. Reply to this
