After spending two or three weeks in Thailand, Swiming and sunning, I have noticed the nails and hair have started to grow at tremendous speed. I have had manicure and pedicure, shave and haircut a week ago and am ready for another go.
Any ideas from other travelers ? Have you noticed this as well ? Is it the water? Rice? I'm at a loss.

Yes, I noticed that Thailand does wonderful things for the hair. Mine is already very long but whenever I spend some time in Thailand it gets really soft and shiney. I really have no clue what causes it. I guessed it must be the water in Thailand. The water where we live in Germany has a lot of calcium(if that is what the white stuff that clogs up coffee makers and builds a layer on the inside of the kettle and waterpipes is) so I presume if I wash my hair in it, it will be different than washing it in places without calcium in the water.

Reply to this hey, i found the same thing, although the opposite. since coming to mexico my hair grows incredibly slow! it takes double the amount of time until i need a shave or cut my hair (which is a good thing!), im glad others have observed something similar as my gf was beginning to think i was crazy!
i have no idea why, as many things have changed that may affect it, food, sun, stress etc, but as mell suggested water would probably be the main cause. in oz i spent 1-2 hours a day in the ocean which has now been decreased to nil...
perhaps we are on to a new anti balding treatment! off to the patent office i go hehe
Reply to this My hair and nails grow a LOT faster and stronger too when I travel to hot places. It could be just the warmer climate that does this (hair is known to grow faster in the summer), or the extra vitamin D we get from the sun.
