Tourist traps you love

Which tourist traps have you been to, that are not on the list?
What did you think about them?
Would you recommend them?

My favorite tourist trap is Park Guell in Barcelona. It was wonderful, and I'd do it again! Reply to this

Blackpool is a domestic tourist trap in the UK and is an awful place to visit- stinks of the frying fat from all the greasy spoons and chip shops although I guess this has a certain charm. Foreign tourist traps such as the eiffel tower are a must see but a bit stressful and lose the magic somewhat once you get to there - its better enjoyed from a distance - once your up there the views are spectacular but a bit overshadowed by everyone elses activities and the massive commercialism. The colleseum in rome is also a must see but again - its not so magical when having to que for an hour outside and shuffle round with loads of people. Its always nice when you see photos of places like Angkor Wat but as one blogger said from a photo of the sunset - actually at the time of taking the photo - there was about 50 or so people to his right and another 50 to the left, a woman talking loudly on her mobile and people shouting or spitting etc........ Another that I guessed is best enjoyed from a distance are the pyramids near Cairo. I predicted a scene like you describe for the Eifel tower so decided to just enjoy them at sunset 200M away instead of taking a tour inside them. Reply to this

I'll be visiting Wall Drug this June when we drive to the Black Hills.

I'm surprised South of the Border isn't on the list That is a tourist trap similiar to Wall Drug. I remember stopping there with my family as a kid when we were driving down to Disney World. We spent hours in the car reading the billboards on the way. These were the days before portable dvd players. Those billboards kept us entertained. How could you not at least stop and look around!? LOL. Reply to this

Summer Palace in Beijing was fantastic. We were lucky and had bad weather in off-season, so it was not so crowded as we expected. It was an amazing place, much too see, and many places to just sit and enjoy (even though we had not time for the latter) Much better than the forbidden city, but i guess the summer palace would be even better if it was not raining and cold😊 Reply to this

Niagara Falls is the most obvious one in North America, but you've got to visit once! Reply to this
