Today was a big day for our truck as it was Debbie´s birthday (girl on truck) and we arrived early in Lima to check into our hotel. On Arrival we had Chocolate cake which was awesome! We spent the day around Lima which at first glance wasn´t too pretty but the main shopping area was nice and the drivers were the worst I´ve ever seen...so scared whenever we took taxis. Anyway that night we all went out to celebrate Debbie´s birthday in style. Firstly as we were all clean and looking good we went out for dinner and then onto a club in town. Barranco is another suburb of Lima. Christina (the mexican girl) and I visited barranca for a couple of hours in the afternoon. We got there by collectivo - local transport, that is basically a minivan with people hanging out the side yelling the destinations. Barranco was quiant, with a pretty plaza de armas and a library. We had a look inside and they still use the Dewey Decimal system and to get access to the books you have to give the Dewey card to the librarian who will collect it from a locked room. When we went during the day it was a sleepy little area on a cliff overlooking the sea, but seemed to have a good night strip with clubs and pubs. The photos speak for themselves. ... read more

Hola mi amigas! After travelling a total of 33 hours I finally made it to Lima in one albeit exhausted piece. My airport pickup and hostel arrival went smoothly. I´ve found it quite easy to make friends and organise trips about town. My first day I explored the local area and found the Parque de Amor unfortunately didnt have my camera so I dont have the token photo of the famous kissing statue. When I returned to the hostel everyone was going to lunch so i tagged along, me and english girl, belgian girl and a half aussie half columbian guy and an US guy plus a mexican girl!!!! haha multicultural to the max. things are getting better. im getting more used to the food and lima is full of it. this has got to be the gastronmical capital of south america. peruvians eat ceviche for lunch and they mean business. for those that dont know, its raw fish and seafood tossed with onions, vinegar, peppers, lime juice, you get the point. very good but a little cautious i am considering this country doesnt have the same health codes as my country. i feel fine though!... read more
