On our way to Mendoza we stopped off at a great little campsite called Luz Y Fuerza in Argentina somewhere - sorry i can´t be more accurate but forgot to write the name of this place down!!! We were supposed to hire bikes and go wine tasting in a number of the vinyards however unfortunately as it was Sunday everything in this small town was closed. But we wouldn´t be defeated that easy so instead we all put some cash in and some one just went to the local supermarket, bought 17 bottles of wine so we could do our own bugdet and a little less impressive wine tasting tour in our campsite. While we were waiting for that we hit the big swimming pool attached to the campsite, had a swim and relaxed by the ... read more

Finally we had arrived in Argentina and we were staying a place called Salta for 2 days which I must admit I´d never heard of before but if you ever make it to Argentina it is a beautiful place to visit and we really recommend you go. We stayed in a campsite outside Salta and it had the biggest outdoor a swimming pool in the world according to the Lonely Planet. We set up our tents and immediately hit the pool for a swim which was much needed after our drive. After a warm shower (you really appreicate hot showers when you travel in South America) we headed into Salte city central where we meet up with everyone for a drink in the main square which was really nice. The local recommended beer in Salta is ... read more

We were up early today same as most days, up at 5.30am and breakfast at 6am before hitting the road before 7am. We had a short 2 hr drive to Uyuni which is where we would visit the salt flats. Once we arrived in Uyuni we dropped our bags off in the hostel and spilit up into 4x4´s and headed off. The first stop on the trip was a train graveyard!!! You heard me right! Now that doesn´t sound like a lot of fun know but when we arrived we were like a bunch 8 yr old kids...all the boys climbed on board and then on top of the old trains and some even humped the chimney for cominical effect (yes that was me!!! ) We stayed for only a short time because we had an ... read more

Today was such a treat for all of us on the truck, not only did we stay in a hotel...granted it wasn´t the best but it was a bed nonetheless but mainly because we could sleep in until 8am...yes on tour that is considered a lay in and we all made the most of it! After breafkast Sol and Johnny came to our hotel to pick us up for our morning excursiom which was a visit to an actual mine just on the out skirts of Potosi. The first thing we did was get changed into our overalls which where less than appealing to wear or on the eye but when you are mining I guess clothes isn´t the issue...and also it was really mucky so overalls are good! (See photo´s of how good we look) ... read more

Friday 12th December - Day 1 - La Paz This was our last day in Peru and we spent about 3 weeks here which was great times. It was time to head to Bolivia and the border was a nightmare. We were told it was one of the easier ones but my god it was tough. It took about 3 hrs to get stamped and also we lost the truck which beleive me is hard to do but somehow we managed it. Anyway after that disaster we arrived in La Paz and again on the road we got an over view of the city and my god it was huge and fantastic looking. We arrived to our hotel at 2pm and we had an apartment to share which was a welcome treat. Steafano and I were ... read more

We arrived in Puno early and we were getting ready to head to Lake Titicaca where would spend the night with a local family in their homes. Before that we visited the locals and floating islands which were made of soil and bamboo type sticks tied together. These islands where only good for approx 6 months before more had to be made. We really enjoyed this and went for boat ride again on a boat made from bamboo and the locals sang to us the local songs and also Twinkle Twinkle little star... We arrived at Lake Titicaca in the afternoon at 3850m and we were spilt into groups to stay with local families. This wasnt done very well as Stefano was paired with Sanjay who both speak pretty good Spanish and I was teamed up ... read more

We spent 2 days in Arequipa and arrived there in the afternoon of Friday 28th November which was great because it was a big place with loads of opportunity to go drinking and party with the group. After settling into our hotel which was nice but...glass doors and walls so everyone could see in we all headed out for a group dinner at one of the restaurant recommended. We tried the local dish for a starter which was Guinea Pig. It doesn´t sound very appealing and I can tell the appearance was when it arrived was even less but we tried it and that´s that. After the restaurant we went to the bar next door and for happy hour, and what an hour it was! The happy hour lasted for 3 hours and it was 15 ... read more

The morning after my birthday...I felt pretty good all things considered. Which is lucky because we had a busy day ahead of us. We got up early and headed to the port where we got on a speed boat and headed out to sea for the many different animals including penguins, pelicans, sea lions and many other birds, we also saw Dolphins from a distance. That was really worth while but it did smell a bit...anyway got some good photos too. Straight after that we headed to the Pisco Brewery where we had a tour and then headed inside for lunch and most importantly the taste test of each drink. Let’s just say the pour Pisco was tough to stomach. After that and feeling a bit tipsy we got back on the truck and headed for ... read more
